Akoya Pearl Earrings For That Stunning Look
Akoya pearls are of a higher quality than fresh water pearls and are marvelously stunning. Highly lustrous and perfectly round, are the characteristics of these beautiful akoya pearl earrings.
Simple and classic are what many women prefer in earrings. These lovely Akoya pearl earrings are guaranteed satisfaction. Because these pearls are very round and hard, they are quite suitable for drilling and stringing. The akoya pearls can be quite small, about 2.0 mm in size and as large as 11.0 mm which is quite rare. Another great characteristic of the akoya pearl is its symmetry which give it high demand in the markets.
Akoya oysters are the smallest of the oysters used in cultured pearls. Most people think of the akoya pearl as traditionally white, but they come in a variety of colors. Golden akoya pearl earrings rival the famous South Sea pearls and blue-black akoya earrings rival our lustrous Tahitian pearls. White and cream colored akoya pearls are common for this type of pearl.
The most common sizes of our akoya pearl earrings are: 5.5 mm, 6.5 mm 7 to 7.5 mm and up to 8 and 9 mm. in diameter. One of our many types of akoya earrings is the baroque (odd shaped) akoya. Usually akoya pearls are round or near round but nature, however, is unpredictable and anything can happen, and often does. Akoya harvests still contain shapes like baroques and semi-baroques and occasionally drop pearls.
Large akoya pearl earrings are also very popular. These sea pearls are crafted into gorgeous earrings with a variety of different settings made from different types of gold. Another earring design that stands alone is a cluster design of small 5.8 mm akoya pearl that dangles from a 14 K gold hook. A pair of beautiful scallop shell earrings made of 14 k gold, holds a lovely akoya pearl in its basin. This set is gorgeous and fit for a Polynesian princess.
Quite often a black akoya cultured pearl may appear within the oyster and these dark pearls, with their special color and luster, are set in golden studs to enhance the beauty of the wearer. We also have black akoya stud earrings 10 mm in size. These black pearls have overwhelming overtones of blue and a flush of cherry red overtones.

Should I wear my pearl earrings while I wash my hair everyday with shampoo/conditioner?
Just wondering if it damages the pearls at all. I wash on shampoo really fast fast and rinse it out quickly, then just condition. Just the normal girl hair/care routine. No other products are used.
Thanks!
No, don't wear them. Pearls should not get wet at all.

"Cultured pearls are relatively soft compared to other gemstones and precious metals. So it is important to take special care of your pearls to ensure they will remain bright and beautiful for generations to come.
Cosmetics, perfume and hair spray all contain chemicals that can dull the luster of a pearl over extended periods of time. Even acids contained in body oils and perspiration can work to damage luster in the same way.
Therefore, it is best to put your pearls on after applying makeup, perfume and hair spray. "
